City Clerk Department
The Office of the City Clerk is responsible for Elections conducted within the City, filling open records requests, maintaining City files and records, City Council meeting Agendas and Minutes, Providing information for Citizen Service to Boards and Commissions, Issuance of licenses, Issuance of permission to consume alcohol at city parks, Administration of assessment records, Board of Review, and filing of claims against the City. Michele Smith has worked for the City of Whitewater since 1994, and has served as City Clerk since September, 2000. As Clerk, Michele handles Election administration; alcohol, event and other licensing; city real estate and assessment records; Common Council minutes; and open records requests. She also oversees the preparation of the Common Council agenda and serves as the Council liaison. Michele attended Whitewater High School and UW-Whitewater. She completed the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Institute in 1999.
