Parks & Recreation Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the planning and implementation of programming for the Whitewater Community, identified as the WUSD boundaries. The department programs and maintains multiple sites including parks, lakes, facilities and public/private partnerships and collaboration with UWWand WUSD as well.

The mission of the City of Whitewater Parks and Recreation Department is to provide exceptional park and recreation services that enhance the livability of our community.

Parks & Recreation Director- Matt Amundson    Email || 262-473-0122

Matt Amundson is the Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Whitewater, serving in that capacity since August of 2007.  In his position he oversees the City’s parks, lakes, and multi-use trail system along with a comprehensive recreation program for the community.  In 2000, Matt graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a BS in Recreation Management.  He achieved his Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification in March of 2003.  Previously, Matt was a Recreation Program Supervisor in Appleton and before that with the Coralville Parks and Recreation Department in Coralville, Iowa.  Matt is also a board member of several community organizations including the Whitewater Aquatic Center, Quad County Baseball & Softball League, Whitewater Youth Football League, and serves as an assistant coach with the Whitewater Girls High School Basketball program.  

Recreation & Community Events Programmer-Michelle Dujardin   Email || 262-473-0121

Michelle Dujardin has been in her current position for the Whitewater Parks and Recreation Department since October of 2007. Michelle is primarily responsible for oversight of contractual programs, adult volleyball, preschool programs, introductory youth sports, summer camp, and special events. Michelle is also currently finishing her Master’s program at George Williams College through Aurora University.

Michelle interned with the Boulder Parks and Recreation Department in Colorado after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.  She then took a position with the Littleton Park District near Denver running before and after school programs, summer camps, and special events.
